Marks and Spencer is set to relaunch its Sparks loyalty card to offer a more personalised experience for shoppers.

The renewed Sparks loyalty programme is available via an updated M&S app from Thursday, July 9 and will offer customers instant rewards, a wider selection of charities to support and more tailored personal offers.

The popular high street retailer has spent the past nine months redesigning the loyalty scheme after feedback from members found the points-based rewards promotions confusing.

The updated Sparks app has already been tested by 40,000 M&S staff across the UK.

New features include a guarantee that each week, one customer in every UK store will be rewarded with their shopping free.

There will also be member giveaways worth thousands of pounds, along with smaller customer rewards including everything from packs of Percy Pigs to Apothecary Candles.

Mirror Online reports that the new scheme is also a digital first and fully integrated online.

You can download the Sparks card on the App Store or sign up online here at marksandspencer.com.

Physical cards are still available too, but rewards won't be personalised.

M&S is also offering a thank you gift to its most loyal customers, set to land in people's M&S App on July 9.

Jeremy Pee from M&S said: "With a Digital First approach, it’s simpler and easier to use but also builds our relationship with customers through a more personalised experience.

"We’ve injected a new sense of excitement and value and made the features they love even better, while stripping out the points and tiers system they found confusing.

"It will instantly feel more rewarding, and customers can be confident that good things will happen every time they shop with us, from winning their M&S shopping basket for free on the spot, to a donation to the cause that matter most to them.”
